We provide compassionate, trauma-informed support to families affected by violent crimes.WE ARE A NON PROFIT ORGANIZATION

Kira’s House was born from the deepest personal tragedy and an overwhelming need for specialized support that simply wasn't available.
Our founder, Arlene Muggins is Kira’s mother. Kira was a vibrant mother of three young children—a pillar of her family and community—whose precious life was tragically cut short by a hit-and-run driver. The violence of her passing, combined with the agonizing uncertainty of the unsolved case, left her children motherless and her family grappling with a unique, compounding grief that mixed sorrow, rage, and the relentless quest for justice.
In the wake of this devastating loss, Kira’s surviving family found that while resources existed for general bereavement, there was no dedicated sanctuary to address the complex trauma of homicide grief—especially for the children left to navigate life without their parent, and without closure.
Kira’s House was created as that sanctuary. It is a promise to Kira, and to every family walking this lonely path, that they will never have to face the darkness alone. We exist to provide the specialized care, community connection, and unwavering advocacy needed to support families through the legal maze, heal their emotional wounds, and ensure that the legacy of their lost loved one, like Kira, is one of hope and enduring light.
